About Guitar Step By Step
I wanted to take a minute to introduce myself, and the question you are probably asking: “Who is Guitar Step By Step?”
My name is James Mulligan also known as Jamesy. I live in Omagh, Northern Ireland and I have been playing guitar since 1997
28 years ago I made the biggest decision of my life. I had just finished High School and dropped out of College. I was drifting and nowhere to go. But I decided I wanted to play an instrument and more importantly I wanted to play the Guitar.
12 months later, I had renewed self-confidence and self-esteem. I had a new direction in my life, playing 365 days a year, 8 hours a day.
Playing in a rock band and thinking nothing but guitar. It was in that moment that I decided that I wanted to make a difference and it didn’t matter how small, through the gift of learning and playing the acoustic and electric guitar.
1997 it wasnt exactly easy I didnt have all the things we have now. I didnt have youtube, nor did I have the internet. But I did have a want, and that’s all you need! I spent the next few years reading a lot of guitar books, magazines and going to a lot of gigs to really improve my guitar skills. Trying out ideas that I was learning, but most of it was all trial and error.
The real breakthrough came when I met my long-term guitar teacher, and everything changed, I made massive progress by learning step-by-step instructions from my him.
All techniques, principles and fundamentals of the acoustic and electric guitar started to come together. I felt if I put my mind to it, I could play anything I desired.
Through my experience “I have now come to believe something that’s very important. If you too have desire to play and a commitment to getting better on guitar. You too can play any song, learn any solo and play any gig ‘YOU’ WANT!”
In 2006 I decided I too wanted to become a guitar teacher for kids, teenagers and adults.
For the next 6 years that followed I have honed my teaching and mentoring skills, tutoring hundreds of students and achieving their musical goals.
In Northern Ireland, my guitar students have achieved GCSE/A LEVEL in music and Grade 8 in both acoustic and electric guitar .
In 2010 after achieving my grade 6 and grade 8 in Electric Guitar, I too achieved the London College Of Music Teaching Diploma in Electric Guitar Playing.
Why Should You Believe That I Can Help You?
As you already know quite well, there are a lot of people running around on youtube and other places trying to convince you that they have all the answers. They have figured the magic bullet on the guitar
Well, unfortunately for you, I don’t have ALL the answers. I don’t the magic bullet.
But what I do know, after teaching 100’s and 100’s students and 1000’s of guitar lesson’s since 2006:
Whether you’re a complete novice just starting out, or you’re the serious guitarist wanting to learn your favourite guitar licks, solos and songs. I will get you where you are to where you want to be on the guitar.
I think you know I’m not interested in things that don’t work. I’m interested in concepts and ideas that do work. I like stuff that get results, AND BIG RESULTS AT THAT.
I’m a person, and as a person I have flaws, but I also think my lessons are the best in the world, and I stand by them. I honestly believe you will improve on guitar and get tons of value in the process…
